Applied and computational topology

I have a wide range of hobbies and interests.

I have been an avid gamer for decades - computer games, roleplaying games, live action roleplaying games, board games.

Computer-assisted art and craft

I have been active in hacker spaces and maker spaces in San Francisco and Edinburgh. I have used laser cutters on several occasions, and have produced laser cut mathematical art that was displayed at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in 2012.

I cook with gusto and enjoyment - trying out new techniques as I run across them, and picking up new cuisines regularly. Lately, I have been interested in slow cooking, cajun cuisine and modernist cuisine, but my interests keep varying.

I also enjoy craft cocktails and classic style bartending. I occasionally infuse my own liqueurs, and often teach myself to mix new classic cocktails. Lately, my interest has been focused on the Aviation and things I can do with Crème de Violette.

I enjoy music. I played the piano for over 10 years, and currently play the clarinet and the saxophone when I can find the time.

I enjoy photography. During my time in Edinburgh, I participated in and competed with some success in the Edinburgh Photographic Society. My favorite photos show up on the photo-a-day blog I ran a few years back.
